Peppermint Essential Oil is cooling, so can release heat associated with irritated skin. Its soothing properties help speed healing time and will reduce itching. It’s an ideal oil for fire ant bites.

Safety Precautions: Non-toxic, non-irritant except in concentration, possible sensitization due to menthol. Use in moderation.
Description: Minty, Reminiscent of peppermint candies, More fragrant than spearmint.
Uses: Asthma, colic, exhaustion, flu, headache, nausea, vertigo.
- An antiseptic oil. Beneficial effect on digestive tract, respiratory tract and circulation.
- Stimulating and very cooling on the skin.
- Rub on stomach or feet, or take one drop internally to calm indigestion or upset stomach
- Diffuse aromatically or apply topically to promote healthy respiratory function
- Apply with lavender to sore, tired muscles and joints
- Breathe in during a meal to help you feel full
- Add to a cold water compress or foot bath to cool off when overheated
- Inhale as a non-stimulant, invigorating pick-me-up on long drives
- Add to shampoo and conditioner for a stimulating hair and scalp massage
- Use with lavender and lemon when seasonal threats are high
- Spritz on a child’s shirt before study time for alertness
- Peppermint contains menthol, which induces a cooling sensation, so if used in a body mist or in a diffuser peppermint can help you cool down. Menthol is also know to help ease tension headaches and muscular aches and pains.
Some uses of Peppermint Essential Oil
- Diffuse: Peppermint has a cooling, refreshing and soothing fragrance. Diffuse it in your home or office whenever you need to uplift and clear the mind, try it instead of a cup of coffee or tea.
- In diffuser, or place a few drops on tissue and inhale. Mental Clarity Blend: 4 drops lime oil, 2 drops basil oil, 2 drops peppermint oil
- Peppermint oil can be applied topically if diluted, as a compress, in the bath, through direct inhalation, or diffuser.
- Diffuse peppermint oil to increase concentration, stimulate the dull or sleepy mind, and freshen air.
- Add two drops to ½ water for a refreshing mouthwash that stimulates gums and helps with bad breath.
- Add several drops to massage oil or lotion to cool skin after being in the sun.
- Use a few drops in an aromatic bath to calm and relax a tired and overworked body and any feelings of excess heat in the body.
- Add several drops to a bowl of water to deter insects when outdoors.
- Chest Opening Blend: 2 drops eucalyptus oil, 2 drops peppermint oil, 4 drops chamomile oil, in steaming water – inhaled several times daily, or added to ½ oz unscented balm and rubbed on chest as needed
- Soothing Belly Blend: 4 drops grapefruit oil, 4 drops peppermint oil, 2 drops ginger oil, 2 drops fennel oil in carrier oil, massage as needed
- After-a-workout Blend: 4 drops ginger oil, 6 drops peppermint oil, 6 drops Eucalyptus oil, in 30 ml carrier oil, massage into muscles and joints
- Clear Breath Blend: 8 drops frankincense oil, 6 drops Eucalyptus oil, 3 drops rosemary oil, 3 drops pine oil, 2 drops peppermint oil for diffusion, or in 30 ml jojoba oil for topical/direct inhalation
- To help relieve seasonal allergies symptoms, diffuse peppermint and eucalyptus oil at home, or apply 2–3 drops of peppermint oil topically to your temples, chest and back of neck.
