Physical Characteristics:    Pale yellow or pinkish liquid..
Dominant Note(s):
Aroma:    Sweet-woody, almost fruity odour.
Main Constituents:    Almost exclusively methyl salicylate (up to 98%)_with formaldehyde and gaultheriline
Safety Precautions:    TOXIC, irritant and sensitizing. Avoid both internal and external use.

 

Wintergreen can be used:

  • Topically in carrier oil, to help relieve joint or muscle pain associated with sprains, strains and arthritis
  • Topically in carrier oil, to relieve the physical stresses of the day, including backache or lumbago
  • Use topically in carrier oil, in a roller bottle and put it in your gym bag for soothing relief post-workout.
  • Apply it to your wrist and enjoy the stimulating minty scent when you need an instant pick-me-up at the office or school before a big presentation.
  • Enhance a massage by adding a few drops of Wintergreen to carrier oil. Apply to your neck or back and release the physical stresses of the day.
  • Add it to your favorite body lotion and apply to tired muscles after activity, Enjoy the soothing, warming effect on achy joints or a stiff back following gardening or yard work.
  • Pamper tired feet with a refreshing blend of Wintergreen and your favorite foot cream.
  • When your body is telling you it needs the VIP treatment, slip into a relaxing bath and add a few drops of Wintergreen to your bath water.
  • Diffuser Blend: 1 drop each Wintergreen, Cypress, Cedarwood, and White Fir essential oils.
  • Post Workout Muscle Rub: Mix 1 cup extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil and 10 drops each Peppermint, White Fir, and Wintergreen essential oils. Store in glass air tight container, rub on muscles after workout.
  • Tension Relieving Roller Blend: In 5ml glass roller bottle, add 3 drops Peppermint, 3 drops Lavender and 6 drops Wintergreen essential oils. Top with fractionated coconut oil. Apply to back of neck or across forehead to relieve tension.
  • Use Wintergreen as a spot treatment for blemishes.
  • Dab a small, diluted amount on your temples to relieve temporary tension.
